Funding will support Hamlin Career Connect, a year-long initiative helping rural students bridge the gap between postsecondary education and meaningful employment.
Collegiate Edu-Nation (CEN) has been awarded a grant from the Allsup Family Charitable Foundation to support Hamlin Career Connect: Bridging Postsecondary Education and Rural Workforce Opportunity, a year-long pilot initiative designed to help students from Hamlin Collegiate ISD in Jones County, Texas, successfully transition from postsecondary education into the workforce.
For rural students, earning a degree or credential is an important milestone. Connecting that achievement to meaningful career opportunities is the next critical step.
Through Hamlin Career Connect, CEN will provide a full year of focused, career-connected coaching to help students navigate that transition. The initiative will connect students’ postsecondary programs of study with regional workforce opportunities, identify relevant work-based learning and on-the-job experiences, and help students take meaningful steps toward employment in their chosen fields.
“Our work doesn’t stop when a student graduates or earns a credential. We want to make sure those achievements translate into real opportunities,” said Dr. Kim Alexander, Founder and CEO of Collegiate Edu-Nation. “This investment from the Allsup Family Charitable Foundation allows us to strengthen that connection for students in Hamlin, helping them turn their education into meaningful careers while contributing to the future of their rural communities.”
As a rural education intermediary, CEN works alongside school districts, higher education institutions, employers, and community partners to build sustainable pathways from K-12 education through postsecondary education and into the workforce.
The Hamlin Career Connect initiative reflects that mission by addressing a critical challenge facing rural communities: ensuring students have the guidance, connections, and opportunities needed to move successfully from education into employment.
Rather than treating graduation as the finish line, the pilot emphasizes what comes next—helping students identify career opportunities aligned with their education and navigate the transition into the regional workforce.
“Strong rural communities need strong connections between education and employment,” Alexander added. “When we help students see a clear pathway from the classroom to a career, we’re not only investing in their individual success. We’re strengthening the talent pipelines that rural communities and regional employers depend on.”
The Allsup Family Charitable Foundation’s investment will support this focused, year-long effort, creating an opportunity for CEN to further strengthen its approach to career-connected coaching and postsecondary-to-workforce transitions.
Through partnerships and targeted student support, CEN continues working to ensure that rural students have access to meaningful opportunities—regardless of their ZIP code.
